Ten go to Treetops and pop up ride to Barnshaw Smithy
We found two weather windows for easy rides last week.
Last Sunday we awoke to ice free roads and a mostly dry morning before the next storm arrived. Griff led a group up from Broken Cross to Siddington where John B, Simon Ga and I met them to form a group of 10. It was windy so we decided to ride as one group. John B switched his motor on, I rode near the back to make sure we didn't lose anyone and we all managed to stay together.
At Treetops we found that Warrington RC had arrived a few minutes ahead of us, but the cafe coped admirably with the sudden influx of cyclists. They even took a photo of us all for their Facebook feed.
We all set off back together, on the wheels of Warrington RC who had been delayed by a puncture. Griff had kindly agreed to make sure everyone got back to Macclesfield, so I turned off to Wilmslow on Stocks Lane, and we all got back home before the storm.
We had a forecast for good weather on Thursday morning so I led a pop up easy ride from Wilmslow to Barnshaw Smithy. I was joined by Francis, John B ( also known as Gawsworth John), and his friend, Didsbury John, trying us out for the first time (welcome!) We had a very enjoyable ride along tracks and lanes, and the sun even appeared. Barnshaw was quiet when we arrived, service was quick and there was some excitement on our table when a former footballer and footballing manager was spotted arriving (I wouldn't have known).
The easy ride tomorrow morning from Wilmslow at 10.30am will be heading to Plumley garden centre. Full details are on the website and everyone is welcome.
