Dodging the showers around Dunham
14 of us enjoyed today's easy ride from Wilmslow to Dunham.
I only had one taker for the shorter route, so John J set off first with a large group of 11, which grew to 12 once Snowy had caught up with them. Their route took them via Ashley, out to Lymm and then along part of the Transpennine trail.
John B and I took a similar route until Rostherne from where we took a more direct route. Dunham Barn cafe was open but serving a limited menu due to roof repairs putting the kitchen out of action. They were however serving mugs of some rather tasty tomato soup with sourdough toast, as well as a good selection of cakes and hot drinks.
It was relatively quiet when John B and I arrived, but was filling up quickly by the time the rest arrived.
It started raining whilst we there, I set off back with a group of 8, followed a few minutes later by John J with those who were not quite ready in time for the first group. The rain soon stopped, and we were all back together by the top of the hill after the airport tunnels.
We have a ride planned for next Sunday, but it will depend upon conditions, so keep an eye on the website.
