Wed Club Run to Hartington

With 15, yes that’s 15, riders out this is surely the club’s best attended ride this week.?

Dave’s plan was to go to Longnor, but the Craft Centre is being redeveloped under the new moniker ‘Merchant House: Hotel, Bar, Kitchen’ some of which must be next door, and isn’t yet open at lunchtimes, based on my in depth research the day before when I went to Cobbles with my wife. That’s Cobbles of the cafe next door variety, not Cobbles of the Collywobbles variety which I was in any case beginning to suffer from after Mrs C made me walk 8 miles for my lunch, sustained only by an apple and a vegan Cliff Bar (Alpine Muesli Mix, which in any case I must stop eating since they contain a small amount of chocolate and I have forsworn the sickly brown stuff since 2003 but I bought two boxes so I’d better eat them).

Since 15 of us in Cobbles would probably mean the three staff would have had to move outside, we made our way to Hartington instead, actually reprising most of the Lark Ride route of 23 Feb, including that amusing, now classic, off-road leg in the shadow of Crombe Hill.

53 miles park to Hart to home. Ave 11.3 mph. Champion (the ride not this rider).
