Jubilee bank holiday Thursday easy ride

We had a good turnout of 8 making the most of the bank holiday sunshine on a ride to Tatton Park.

There were 7 of us at the Wilmslow start by 10am, so we split into two groups. I led Kirsten and John B on a slightly shorter route, whilst John J led Sue, Simon R and Richard on the published route. It was a busy morning for tractors, but most of the lanes were quieter than usual, just an occasional aeroplane deceiving one of us into thinking that there was a car behind.

Tatton Park was starting to get busy, but there was still plenty of outdoor seating, and their giant scones now come on proper china plates. Paul R arrived just as we were sitting down, having missed us by a few minutes at the start. The sun came out, one of us dropped a plate (it stayed intact), another discovered that their chair was broken, but nothing compared with Paul R’s holiday mishap (ask him when you see him next!)

We rode back to Wilmslow as one group, encountering in one of the lanes a penny farthing in full flight and appropriate attire. We made a unanimous decision to have a second stop at the Red Bus tea room, which was suitably decorated for the Jubilee. It was a very enjoyable ride, thanks everyone!
