1-0-Clock Club Run. It's good when a plan comes together

A good mixture, twelve in all of new, newer, older club members, former regulars etc, old friends and new friends met up at south park for a traditional saturday afternoon club run on the one just gone.

The idea was for a sociable afternoon’s ride of  40 or 50 miles and that’s exactly as it happened. 42 actually I was told, heading out down Pexhill, Jodrell Bank and Whipping Stocks, back through Goostrey, Marton and Gawswoth. We were lucky with the weather in respect of it being fine and sunny, not so lucky with it being a strong headwind on the way back but there was enough of us able to cope with that and the ride kept on schedule with a cafe stop at Oakwood Marina, one and all getting back to the Kings Head together before 5.

There was some talk as we relaxed in the sunshine post ride as to whether it could become a regular fixture, maybe fortnightly alternating with the saturday social introductory ride seems a good ambition to me but as always it’s dependant on someone stepping forward to lead, your’s truly for instance being unavailable for the next three saturdays. Time could tell if it's a successful formula and it’s a pretty simple one, but by mutual agreement this ride worked well.

As gradually of twelve of us early arrivals finished their well earned drinks 🍻 and some drifted off more wheeler’s turned up, firstly three on gravel bikes then a few who had been out all day on a hilly outing into Staffordshire. It’s got to be a positive for a big and diverse club like ours with different interests and abilities, that we can get on socially. So all good 👍(including the band and I'll admit to staying longer than planned huddled under blankets for the encore).

See you all next time.
