Sunday Easy Ride to Glebe Farm
We had 9 of us out on a warm 30 mileish easy ride from Macclesfield to Glebe Farm at Astbury.
These were Kirsten, Emma, Babette, Dave, Simon G, Jim, John, Dan and myself leading. Jim's Garmin recorded 27 degrees C, and we found the head wind on the way out refreshingly cooling. The route out took a slightly hilly route around Congleton with a mixture of quiet scenic lanes and short stretches of main road. Glebe Farm was busy with families but they seemed to be more interested in the animals and ice cream, so the cafe was fairly empty and we were served quickly. The sandwiches came made with thick doorsteps of bread, and Kirsten's burger nearly sunk her. Yvonne turned up just in time for a quick coffee and scone, having tried out a route along the Middlewood Way and canal path. After a quick photo we set off again, but not for long...Jim had a puncture. It seemed to be a slow one, fixed with some more air in his tyres, but then Dan took a tumble at the exit to Glebe Farm. Like a lot of falls at slow speed it caused some damage, with a cut knee and graze, and a bashed helmet, thanks to a stone wall. The rest of the ride home was less eventful, although rather warm with a tail wind. Average speed was a little more leisurely than last week, just slightly over the advertised 12mph.
