Gravel Ride to Plumley

Turned out nice again.

Three of us explored the tracks and trails around Holmes Chapel and Peover, enjoying a welcome stop at Plumley Garden Centre.

Partaking todays ride, myself, Nigel B and Craig S. Despite a rather damp and gloomy start at 10 am the weather quickly improved and we were blessed with a gentle breeze and even a glimpse of blue sky.

South of Gawsworth we navigated the track through Great Tidnock Farm, joining Marton and (the not-actually-closed) Messuage Lanes to the trail past Kermincham Hall. A quick spell along the A535 took us into Holmes Chapel where we found the next trail at the end of Hermitage Drive .

After crossing the A50 we made our way uneventfully through the golf course and joined some excellent trails and singletrack around Ollerton lakes and Shakely Mere.

After crossing over the M6 we took the track past Hulme Hall before diverting left along the access road to join the tarmac at Common Lane then into Plumley Garden centre for a well earned all-day-breakfast (well, not really well earned, but who cares).

After lunch we enjoyed the track through Peover Hall, then making our way through Chelford and another trail to negotiate the cobbles of Bradford and Hocker Lanes to Birtles.

No nettles, No punctures and no mechanicals made our ride a success! 40 odd miles, back home just after 2pm.

Next ride in two weeks…
