Steady Chain Gang @ 6.30 On Thursday

A supa seven headed down Pexhill on the stroke of 6.30 pm yesterday evening.

At Siddington X roads we became the awesome eight when we were joined by Rich and got a pretty tidy chain gang going heading up towards the Red Lion. In a pre planned move Dave peeled off at the Yellow Broom so we were back to  seven and it's a good job we were supa as it was a tad breezy at the pointed end. I was looking forward to a bit of a tailer from the turn at Byley and I think there might have been but there was no relaxing we just used it to go a bit faster. A good pace was kept up but steady and disciplined  enough to get back to Siddington all together with everyone going through. There was a slight interruption at Chelford island when I had to put my chain back on following a minor incident that probably looked worse than it was to the audience of JAR rider’s looking on from across the road, then there was just the little matter of Pexhill:.

With no Ben and no Bartosz this week it was the turn of some veterans to come to the fore. Yours truly did all his turns (not everyone did 😎) until Dark Lane / Bearhust Lane then sat up. Rich who to give him his due had done as many turns as anyone kept his nose in front of Col whose never one to shy away from some final uphill action. Fozzy who had been finding it so easy with his new compact chainrings hadn't noticed Dave had gone an hour ago and was theoretically working about 12.5% harder was next over the line at Broken X. So that was the virtual podium places sorted and Pete and Jim were also going well on the drag up, Fred was unashamedly last, but ride of the night award 🏆👏 goes to Ivan who had his strongest one yet since he started a few weeks ago…...definitely much improved and proof that the ride is fulfilling its purpose.
