Odds and Evens @ 6pm on 1st October

An uneven turnout of nine wheelers meant it was a 4 up and a 5 up on the 6@6 training ride last Thursday night.

The 4up with two Christians;- S and A, plus Ant and Boothy was the first group off heading down Pexhill a couple of minutes ahead of the rest of. We stuck to the now tried and tested formula of two minute turns, it went quite smoothly and I called the changes on even minutes without interruption as far as the A 50 where we were held up for roughly a minute until it was safe to cross so the changes we're then on odd's. Shortly after Byley, Vinney then did a extra one in taking it to the 3 Greyhounds so we were back on evens.

It stayed like that in the fading light, but good conditions. We kept a good pace with no missed turns to Martall. At the left turn for Chelford I still thought there was a chance we might pull in the first group but not everyone in our group was so keen or just didn't have the leg's and it got a bit strung out so it was steady round Chelford island until it was all back together again by Congleton Lane and so it stayed to Siddington.

Jim did the first pull up Pexhill, then it was my turn (so far so good), next was Vinney who seemed to be going well enough until he suddenly popped on the ramp before Bubblytex. Paul got round him pretty sharpish but I couldn't get round quick enough to hang onto Paul, Jim and Andy had gone by then so we all ended up solo to Broken X getting over the line about 30 sec's apart, Paul then Fred, Vinney, Jim and Andy.

In the first group the two Christians battled it out from Siddinton with the younger one pulling away well before the top so that ended; Christian A , Christian S, Ant then Boothy who was on his comeback ride after a moth off his nose op.

We were lucky to be out on our summer bikes in October, it's definitely going to transitioning to a winter ride, so we'll keep riding, taking it week by week.
