Wed Club Run to Broadbottom and Hayfield

A few testing climbs with good views and fast descents

After a few weeks of sub 5 temperatures and flooded lanes it was great to get some slightly warmer weather and for nine of us (Steve, Chris, Pete, Dave W, Dave H, Raph, John, Moray and Phil)  to venture into the hills again.  After a gentle roll along the lanes to Marple and Compstall , Werneth Low provided the first climb of the day and after a short excursion (diversion!) along parts of the Transpennine Trail near Hattersley we stopped at Broadbottom for lunch.  The way home involved a few more testing climbs with correspondingly extensive views and fast descents to Charlesworth, Chisworth, Peep O'Day and Eccles Pike to Whaley Bridge.  At this point there was a split with half of the peleton opting for the direct route to the final climb of the day (Charleshead) and the rest opting for the more scenic Start Lane cobbles route.  All in all a good day's riding, in some slightly warmer weather (50 miles, 6000 ft, 10 mph).
