Sunday marked the end of the mountain bike race season and the start of the cyclocross season. Matt Lawton opted to race the final round of the National MTB series at Cannock Chase, while Louis and Mark Messenger, Marcus Fielden and Mark Rowson raced in Round 1 of the Northwest Cyclocross Association league, held at Beacon Park near Wigan.
Conditions in both races were dry and fast, although showers later in the day made for greasy conditions in the MTB race at Cannock. Louis finished 27th in the Senior race and in the Vet 50 race it was 23rd for Mark Messenger and 36th for Mark Rowson. Marcus had to retire from the V40 race with two laps to go due to a broken chain. Over at Cannock Matt managed to work his way through the field to finish 2nd Expert male.
