Saturday Club Run 15th September
It was a shorter than normal ride to Marple to watch the Tour of Britain
The brickworks climb to Charles Head up past the Moorside then Whaley Bride and New Mills with a final climb up from Strines Road onto Marple Ridge.
There was a good show of Wheelers up there, ourselves and the Saturday Social Ride plus several who had made their own way so it looked like a proper Macclesfield corner on the TV. The biggest cheer was for Matt Holmes in the break who had won our hill climb on Cat and Fiddle a few days ago.
We had a quick ride back via the Middlewood way and a few of us caught the train into Manchester to see the finish where the race was quite a bit faster on Deansgate than it had been on Marple Ridge.
