Easy riding into autumn

Some of you have missed my Sunday easy ride reports, so here’s what I can remember from the last three.

October 10th was our wedding anniversary and I had a university assignment to complete, so I dispatched John to lead the ride, from Broken Cross to Glebe Farm via Mow Cop. Fortunately some of the group remembered to take photos, so there is some evidence that most of the group made it up Mow Cop, there was glorious sunshine and great views.

October 17th was a flatter ride from Wilmslow to Treetops Nursery, welcome to Claire, out on her first ride with us. I met up with Claire at Marthall and took her on a shorter version of the route, until my chain came off as we climbed up from Bate mill towards Jodrell. John's group caught us up there and we rode together through Goostrey. Two Philips and Vinny were already at the cafe after a quick ride from Broken Cross. Snowy placed an order for some more locusts at the reptile rescue centre, and explained which family pets ate them, whilst we ate our lunch. Claire, Pat and I set off home first, while the rest took a longer route, and we all stayed dry, despite the forecast.

Today's ride was to Tatton Park, there were just 7 of us at Wilmslow so we all rode together until near Rostherne where I opted for a short cut so I could get my breath back and take some photos. There were a few drops of rain but it had stopped by the time we arrived at Tatton Park cafe. Two Simons and Jo were also there, having ridden from Macc.

Le grand depart after the cafe was somewhat delayed when Phil discovered he had a puncture, and Jim discovered he had a bent rear hanger. The group rode together as far as Alderley Edge, where there was a second cafe stop at the Village cafe for some, whilst others headed for home.

Next Sunday’s ride will be to Mobberley, after a lie in because the clocks go back.
