Journey to Jodrell
We had a good turnout of 12 for our last easy ride of March even though some of our regulars were riding audaxes and sportives. We had 5 riders joining the Sunday easy ride for the first time, namely Dave and Aaron who had tried out the recent Saturday social ride, plus their friends Chris and Adam, and finally club member Simon, who usually goes out on a Saturday. Welcome!
We split into two groups at Jodrell, I led a group with our 4 new riders, and Brian looking after the back of the group. Jim led the second group, accompanied by Griff, Phillip, Michelle, Simon and John, out with us for the second time. Everything went well with my group until I dropped my water bottle shortly after Twemlow Green as we headed towards Goostrey. We decided that was a good opportunity for a breather, and Brian gave Adam (who was on a new bike) a tutorial on gears. They were so engrossed in conversation that they did not realise that the rest of us had set off again, even when Jim's group passed them. They eventually caught up with us again at Jodrell Bank, having done a little sightseeing in Goostrey.
The cafe was quiet when we arrived, with very few mothers being taken to Jodrell for their Mother's Day treat. Our route back was shorter, so Griff and Simon turned off before Siddington to get in some extra miles. It was another very sociable ride in the sun.
