Sunday Easy Ride to Dunham Barn

The sun came out for our easy ride today, despite some early morning rain.

I led the supposedly slower group of Lisa, Pat, Sarah and Philip from Wilmslow. John was shattered after his 600km Audax, so Mark H offered to lead the faster Wilmslow group, using his Wahoo. His group set off first but somehow we ended up ahead of them in the first 5 minutes, as they completed several u turns. We let them overtake us and get away, but still managed to catch them several times, before letting them get to the cafe just ahead of us…great entertainment! Philip was having problems with his bike, having fitted a new stem last week, so headed back home early. Snowy led a group of 5 on the 38 mile route from Macclesfield, at a good pace, Simon G came in to the cafe a few minutes after the other 4.

After lots of chatting my group set off first, on the published route, and with a well behaved Garmin, Pat was riding strongly, and keeping up with her meant that we managed to achieve an average speed of 12mph by the time we got back to Wilmslow. John and Griff navigated the other Wilmslow riders, plus Simon G, on a longer route back. I rejoined them for their second cafe stop at the Great Red Bus Tearoom in Wilmslow.

In Griff's words, a good time was had by all!
