Club Run To Millers Dale

The prospect of a bit of climbing didn’t prevent a good turnout for last saturdays club run.

A quick headcount in the park indicated it would be twenty plus as the expectation was for six to join us en route and even though a shorter option was on offer all wanted to do the harder ride. So the plan was made for it to shake down into two groups by Clulow Cross but things don't always go exactly to plan😎, however two distinct groups did arrive at  Millers Dale station cafe with everyone accounted for about 15 minutes apart. That was after three of us were in no man’s land for a while, your correspondent after planning the route himself didn’t follow it 🥸 and forget to turn for Gibbtorr, we were back on track and together  by Longnor where the ahead group had considerately waited (or just wanted a breather before Crowdicote 😤🤪).

Heading back four of five went a harder way up Wormill and via the Goyt, the rest of us in two groups had a easy start along the Monsall Trail where one of the club’s veteran cross races gave us a display of his off road skills, no names mentioned but Thorpy needs to practice unclipping a bit quicker before his next race🤪. After that the steepest climb on the return leg was Cowdale which made Axe edge and the Cat seem relatively easy and it was great weather for being up there 🌞.

To cap of a good outing following the descent of Buxton Old Road and the Forest almost everyone called in at the Church House in Sutton for a post ride social and moderate rehydration 🍻. Lets hope for another good one in two weeks when all members will be welcome, see you all then
