Great ride to Grasslands

Last Sundays easy ride had 12 riders departing from Wilmslow plus 2 who met us at Snowdrop cafe. Griff had a rather eventful day…..

Sue had organised a small group to ride over from Broken Cross to the Wilmslow start point. Griff had ridden over early from Prestbury in search of a red bus breakfast, only to find them closed for the winter so had to make do with a cup of tea at Jim's.

We set off from Wilmslow in 2 groups, John led a group of 8 on a longer and slightly faster ride, whilst I led Ruth, John B and Jim on the published route. John's group went on the cycle path through the airport tunnels. There was maintenance work going on and a large cone on the far side of the tunnel was in the cycle path. John was ahead of the main group, so stopped to move it, rather than go around it. The result was a small pile up behind him with Griff ending up in the bushes, but no injuries and bikes all ok.

They caught up with my group near Plumley and overtook us to claim first place in the cafe queue. The food was great but Griff's rather hot eggs escaped his plate, and ended up somewhere they shouldn't.

Half of the group took a direct route back to Macclesfield to beat the expected rain, whilst the rest of us rode back via Stocks Lane and Ollerton. There was a very quick burst of light rain, but not enough to stop and put on waterproofs. Next Sunday's ride starts from Broken Cross at 10.30am, everyone is welcome.
