Time Trial calendar 2020
Welcome to the Macclesfield Wheelers time trial 2020 page for testers, would be testers, the tester curious and those perhaps undecided but persuadable.
We have a great selection of events and courses: 20 races altogether with 17 club 10s, the 2 Karl Austin Memorial 25s run with Congleton CC and our open 25.
The club 10s will again run in conjunction with the Westmead Team 88 after last years series was judged to be a success by both clubs. We will run our races on the JC36 course at Lower Withington for 3 Wednesday evenings at 1900hrs and Westmead will run theirs for 3 Wednesdays on the J2/1 course at Chelford. The (mostly) 3 week rotations will then continue over the summer.
Similarly to last year, in order to be eligible for a club award in the 10 series you will have to complete at least 8 of the 10s with at least 3 on each course. This is one fewer race compared to last year, but the Club committee agreed the following; that In order to ensure sufficient helpers and marshals, to be eligible for a club TT award you must marshal at at least 1 of our club 10s on the JC/36 course.
Please note an important change to CTT regulations from last year:
In order to be allowed to race all competitors must have a working red light at the rear of their bicycle. flashing or steady. No competitor may be allowed to start without a working rear red light. This applies to all events - all club and open time trials.
General info
JC/36 is almost two laps of a course based around Lower Withington. J2/1 is the well-established Monks Heath / Chelford course.
Apart from our Open 25-mile TT, all events are ‘entry on the day’ (entry fee £5). If you’re under 18, you need to bring a completed Cycling Time Trials parental consent form (select Type B).
Sign-on from 18:30
For Macclesfield Wheelers riders in the Club 10 series:
We will be running two points tables: a ‘scratch’ table based on actual times, and a ‘handicap’ table based on handicap-adjusted times
Overall results at the end of the season will be based on the best 9 results, with a minimum of 3 on each course
We will track if riders used a TT bike or a road bike and highlight this in the weekly results tables - this is mainly to encourage people who don’t have a TT bike to participate and compare themselves against other riders on similar bikes. In this case a road bike means no tri-bars, no disc wheels, but deep section rims are ok.
