Sunday Easy Ride to Mobberley

We had 8 out on a very hot easy ride from Macclesfield.

Spencer and Ian were out on their first ride with the club - welcome! We managed to avoid the road race riders on the Siddington circuit and took a route through some quiet lanes to Chelford island, then on to Marthall. Our original destination, Waugh Brow farm, turned out to be closed for a wedding, so we activated plan B and went to Barnshaw Smithy, about two minutes up the road. It was very busy but there was a large table available inside, perfect for 8. We had to be patient, the food was good, and it gave us chance to talk, and stay out of the sun. The ride back to Siddington was very hot, and we welcomed the splashes from a couple of ad-hoc streams running across the road near Bate Mill. At Siddington we split into a couple of groups, one heading up Pex Hill, and several of us heading to Redesmere for a much needed ice cream. A good day out, with good company. Those starting from Broken Cross will have done about 32 miles, I recorded an average speed of 12.8mph (but that included my solo ride from Wilmslow to Siddington and back again).
