Easier Training Ride @ 10-2-7 on 9th Jan

We had another good steady one on the easier training ride @ 10-2-7 last night.

The weather was kind to us, no significant wind and rain and reports indicated that the flood on Congleton Lane had dried up so we did what is probably about the version four course; Goostrey, Byley, Seven Sister's, Pinfold Lane, Chelford and there actually was a very large puddle on Congleton Lane but it wasn't the mudbath it had been before Xmas. In fact my bike is the cleanest its been after a ride for a few weeks.

Once again it wasn't the fastest of rides, the stronger rider's probably found the pace fairly easy but we did do the full 30 mile circuit within the target speed. I've no doubt that if we continue to ride for each other, which is what we've being doing and what the ride is all about overall speed round the circuit will pick up.

The return climb up Pexhill started with a leading group of six followed by a less ambitious group of three. In the first group Dave then Fred we're soon of the back and just watching the red lights up the road disappear by the corner at Dark Lane. So your correspondent can't give a first hand account of the finish but I would guess it was Christians night. Also up there somewhere Mark, Ant and Rick. Andy couldn't use the excuse he couldn't see through mud splattered glasses so he must have had some other reason to be hanging on the back by Siddington, Fozzy was saving himself for a future bid for strava glory and Jill following a high mileage effort the day before made up the second group.

We only just made it in time to order chips in the PT, but due to a power cut we went hungry anyway (fortunately the beer is on handpumps). So the target next week, get up to Broken X a few seconds if not minutes quicker and the target for the Park Tavern, get that wiring fixed.
