Meet The Member, Adele Reynolds
You will see Adele on all sorts of ride’s; social club run’s, long distance challenges, touring, time trails, duathlons (cycling & running), she’s truly multi talented.
What was your first proper bike?
My first ‘proper bike’ was a Fuji women’s road bike from Evans in Manchester. It's still the one I ride now on most club rides though pretty much everything has been replaced. I think there is so much to be said for a bike that you are comfortable on rather than buying lots of fancy kit!
How long have you been a Macc Wheeler?
I’ve been a member since July 2017 – my first ride was with the Sunday Easy Ride out to High Legh Garden Centre. I was a bit apprehensive about joining but haven’t looked back since.
Tell us about your most memorable ride with the club
I think it has to be one of the Thursday night JAR’s last year. It was cold, wet & dark and we went over Wincle Minn. An adventurous winter ride with plenty of banter in the Park Tavern afterwards!
Have you a special race or special cycling event?
Wild Wales 2019 will always stick in the mind – 100 miles & 10,000ft of climbing on a scorching hot day. Not bad for someone that thought they’d never be able to ride up hills!
What does cycling mean to you?
For me cycling is about staying active physically and mentally and appreciating the world around us. During the current pandemic it’s really helped me to stay positive and healthy.
Do you have any top tips for other cyclists?
The biggest tip I would give for anyone starting out is to set ambitious goals and don’t tell yourself you can’t do something – most of us are capable of so much more than we will allow ourselves to believe, and from a very practical perspective – try and get low gears. It can make the difference between being able to cycle up a hill and having to get off and walk!

Adele was one of the few members who represented the club in a competitive event last year. In the Stretford Wheelers 25mile Time Trial on the J29 Chelford course in September 2020, she achieved a PB by a massive four and a half minutes (1:13: 16). Watch out for more time to be shaved off when time trials start again.
