Saturday Club Run 21st December

The MTBer’s outnumbered us in south Park at 1-0-clock but six roadies headed into the hills.

Six became seven when Woody joined us then seven became six again when Andy R peeled off at Flash Bar. So with Mick, Andy J, Christian, Pete and Fred we headed down towards Longnor but made a right turn before we got there. That lane and most of the way down to Hartington was all new to me which was good and I’ll definitely look forward to going that way again in the spring or summer.

As is the Saturday club run habit we didn’t all stick to the planned route, in fact nobody did at the bottom of Crowdicote on the way back when we turned right for Earl Sterndale, apart from Chris that was who was taking more notice of his sat nav than our shouts and headed for Longnor and Glutton Bridge, the group was all back together again (he couldn’t shake us off😎) by the raceway though.

The night before the winter solstice it was pretty gloomy up there with patchy mist to add to the atmosphere, but that’s a lot more preferable to wind and rain. We climbed up over Axe Edge and tapped up over the Cat, then job done headed down for the Xmas social in the Ship.

The MTBer’s got in the Ship an hour before the roadies…..so it was catch up time!. A great cross section of wheeler’s for the traditional pre Xmas social.
