Just a Ride

Another night, another adventure!

Eight of us defied the early shower to head for the hills again, to be rewarded with a fine evening in glorious sunshine again.

Our route headed uphill to begin with, followed quickly by another hill and soon after that came another hill. Just when we thought we had reached the top we found another hill and then several more hills quickly followed.

At the half way ish point some fool had the bright idea of taking the bridle path at grid ref SK401835,367001 if that means anything to anyone, to Hawk’s Nest Farm . Well maybe with a mountain bike and VERY waterproof shoes (i.e. wellington boots) it could be a good idea but I don’t recommend it. The scenery was quite stunning though, so extra kudos for those stupid enough to use it. Thanks go to the more sensible element of the group who took the road, for waiting patiently whilst we scrambled up the muddy incline and spent fifteen minutes digging the debris from our cleats.

The way back was straightforward though with a spin to Axe Edge (don’t places round here have great names?), the Cat n Fiddle and Standing Stone, descending at last into Macc.

Well done to all participants, and thanks to Alison for the great photos
