Saturday Social
Only the hardiest and most dedicated Macc Wheelers would rock up for an 8mph average ride when the weather forecast is predicting 2° celsius
I was secretly hoping no one would turn up, but five slightly mad riders (including two new members) braved the Saturday Social in the freezing cold. That is true dedication.
We welcomed Lisa and Lisa out on their first Macc Wheelers ride. What a week to join! I don’t think I’ve ever felt so cold, and was definitely very jealous of Richard’s fabulous hat.
The 20 mile route took us on two loops around Sutton, Gawsworth and Marton. This week’s route include a short off-road section, cattle grids, a few more hills than usual, and plenty of irate drivers.
My Wahoo clearly likes the cold about as much as I do, as it thought we were going at 330mph at one point. That would definitely be a record for the Saturday Social!
I’ve never been so pleased and relieved to make it back to Sutton Hall, where we defrosted with the help of an open fire, hot drinks and comfort food. I definitely got a few new PBs trying to keep warm on the ride home, not that my Wahoo recorded them, as it had well and truly had enough by then!
Out today: Lisa, Richard, Lisa, Gawsworth John and Kirsten.
