Sunday Easy Ride to Bollington / Rainow
We had a record turnout, with 24 doing the club ride as far as the cafe, 2 doing part of it, and 3 meeting us there.
Fortunately we arrived in various groups over an hour and a half, so didn't completely overwhelm Farmmade tearooms!
Simon Gr led Vinnie, Michael, and Karl on the flatter route from Broken Cross., and arrived first at the cafe for bacon butties.
8 of us set off from Wilmslow with Jim successfully navigating Dan and Francis, whilst my navigation with Pat, Alison, Damien and Gawsworth John was less successful. My Garmin tried routing us back home when we got to Bollington, before we had reached the cafe, so we had a scenic trip around Pott Shrigley, before getting back on track, thanks to Gawsworth John's phone and some guidance from a local.
We arrived at the cafe and found Jim’s and Simon's groups already there, along with Peter J, and Debs. In the queue for food we came across Ben, a recent Macc Wheeler rejoiner, who was there by coincidence.
The last to arrive were 12 riders in two groups who had done a longer route via Bosley Minn from Broken Cross. These included James and Claire on their first ride with the club, Jack, Phil Br, Simon Ga, John J, Philip Br (Yes we do have two Phillips with surnames starting Br), Griff (looking a little broken), Mark H, Simon R, Jo and Rebecca. Snowy and his daughter did part of the ride by tandem, but didn't come as far as the cafe.
There was some improvising by various groups on the way home. Simon's group didn’t feel a descent of Beeston Brow was going to be great in the damp, so headed back via Adlington and Butley lane to Prestbury and home. Jim's group stuck to the prescribed route back towards Wilmslow until they got to Alderley, and somehow ended up at Costa (again)! Alison navigated my group the shortest, flattest route possible back to Wilmslow, meaning that we missed the rain. Well done to Damien on his first time out on a Sunday with us, and the furthest he has ever ridden.
See you next week for another adventure !
