Sunday Easy Ride to Treetops

18 Macclesfield Wheelers did some easy riding today, and were rewarded with a warm and sunny lunch stop.

11 of us started from Wilmslow, I set off first with Pat, Alison G, Gawsworth John and Jim, John set off a few minutes later with Sue, Griff, Phillip B, Jack and Snowy.

John had loaded the route on my Garmin, but I had not reviewed it, so I was as surprised as the rest of my group by some devious variations on our usual route towards Goostrey. John's group caught us and went ahead of us just after Jodrell Bank, when my Garmin gave a belated instruction after we should have turned right.

We had a long wait to cross a very busy A50, did a loop which took us past Grasslands, and arrived at Treetops last. 7 riders from Macclesfield were already well through their lunch, they had ridden there as a 5 plus a 2, and included Alison F, Mary, Michael, Simon R, Simon Ga, Phillip Br.

Snowy did not stop at the cafe, and Gawsworth John and Sue decided to take a more direct route back to Macc, so only 8 of us headed back to Wilmslow. I led Alison G and Pat at a sociable pace, whilst John led an all male group, who went off piste to take in a freshly tarmaced track recommended by Jack. They then had an unauthorised cake stop at Mobberley Methodist church, where there was a cake stall, and completed their adventure by masking up and coming to the rescue of a pedestrian who had fallen over on the bridlepath across the fields, and needed help to get back up. Not all heroes wear capes, but they do need masks at the moment!
