Easy riding start to May

We made the most of the improved weather at the start of May, and continued with our very wide definition of easy rides.

Last Saturday John J led an easy paced 200km ride to Shropshire, with 2 cafe stops (including Elsie's pie shop) and 1 shop stop (Audlem). Griff and Becky joined the group for the first part of the ride to the first cafe stop, whilst Eddie, Andy B, Dave H, Kevin, Mark H, Troy, Phil B, Barrie and Sue E went for the full value ride with John. Congratulations to Sue, Troy and Kevin on their longest rides to date. Thanks to Sue for the photos from this ride.

Last Sunday saw 6 of us setting off from Wilmslow at 1pm for a more traditional easy ride, including two prospective members, Sue who has also tried the social ride, and Holly who has also tried the women's ride. Simon Ga was testing out his new all terrain electric bike, I was trying out the drop handlebars which John had fitted to my bike, John was trying to get his legs going again after leading the 200km the previous day, and Damian was back out on his bike due to a running injury. Nevertheless we rode well as one group, letting Simon go off the front on the occasional hill. Molly's bike developed a clacking noise, so we had a quick pit stop and John diagnosed bearing problems in the front wheel.

The weather was perfect, sunny with not too much wind, and we rode the shorter 27 mile route which took us out through Knutsford and Tatton Park to High Legh village hall. There was the usual good spread of sandwiches, desserts and cakes, with what Damian described as a 1970s vibes, and we sat outside in the sun. We took a shorter route back around Rostherne, through Ashley, then the airport tunnels, and back by 4pm. It was a lovely ride, Holly's wheel made it back to Wilmslow, and we hope to see Holly and Sue out with the club again.
