John Jackson led a very select group of easy riders today on a bit of an adventure from Wilmslow to Dunham and back. Jim, Yvonne and Simon followed John through some very flooded lanes, including one with a closed sign. They realised why when the water started coming in over the top of their winter boots! The Lavendar Barn turned out to be closed so they ended up at Red House farm drying off and refuelling. Martin and I took the even easier option of staying at home....

11 easy riders out this morning on our 10.30 ride from Broken Cross to Plumley garden centre. I met them there to make 12, including Dan, Jim, Griff, Geoff, Kev, Jen, Philip, Paul R, Yvonne, John Jackson and Adam? out with us for the first time after recently breaking his wrist. It was quiet in the cafe so we rearranged the furniture to make one long sociable table in the room with a log burner going. The service was excellent, and the fruit scones were superb! We have another easy ride tomorrow, New Years Day, leaving Wilmslow at 10.30am, all welcome!

We had ten easy riders following John today on a route from Macclesfield to Shipbrook, namely Philip, Paul R, Simon G, Andy J, Dan, Griff, Adele, and three joining us for their first time, Sean, Robin and Vicci. The group stuck to main roads to avoid the ice on the way out, and found Janus RC kindly warming up some seats for them in the cafe. The route back took in some more minor roads, and found a little ice not yet melted in Catchpenny Lane. Everyone stayed safe, next week's ride will be from Wilmslow, all are welcome.

12 set off on the easy ride from Wilmslow this morning in toe numbing chill. Olly was stretching his legs before tomorrow's track riding so headed back home after 13 miles with us. The rest of us made it to Lymm via the new cyclist plus pedestrians plus equestrians tunnel under the A556. Lymm had two busy cafes so we split into two groups and sampled both. John Jackson went into the Sextons bakery with Paul Griffies, Steve, Paul R, Dan and Simon G. Philip made a shrewd move and accompanied Yvonne, Helena, Babette and myself to the Coffee House. Both cafes provided a prompt table service and had similar menus, the Coffee House was slightly more trendy. The food was good so I think we will be back! We took a different route home via Dunham and what felt like every possible hill around Hale. Several stops for chaps of a certain age plus a few issues with close fitting mudguards which did not like mud meant our average speed was 11mph, but we did clock up 35 miles altogether.
