GPX files on club runs page

Postby jjackson » Thu Nov 06, 2014 12:30 am

Simon Galgut your new Saturday clubs leader (steady pace) has produced a gpx file for Saturdays ride
I have modified the Club Runs page to allow the gpx file to be downloaded. For a preview of the route and and a chance to have the route on your gps visit the Club Runs page.
The faster group led by new leader Paul Hart will also call at Wheelock however, the route will be a surprise.
PS
I am taking a break from club runs for a few weeks due to other commitments including drinking beer at the Ghent 6 day. I hope you all enjoy rides with new leaders and they enjoy leading the rides.

GPX routes will be available for all the Saturday club runs. They will be refined as we do more rides and eventually we should have a catalogue of routes to choose from. At the moment they are very much a work in progress.
Hopefully latecomers to the Fermain will be able to catch up as they will know the proposed route. Others will be able to investigate the route before Saturday to determine the quantity of byway / bridleway / rutted muddy track included (only 750 metres this week) and choose the best bike for the day !!

The gpx downloads section on the Club Runs page has been updated.
The "Route"column has a link to the route on the ridewithgps website. This will show the route in a Google map, and the elevation profile. The file can be downloaded by clicking the Export tab.
The "GPX" column contains a direct link to the gpx file, clicking this should either prompt you to "save the file" or automatically download the file. The downloaded file can then be loaded into your GPS unit or viewed in an on-line mapping site.
