Easy ride to No Car cafe

Postby Katherine Jackson » Sun Oct 19, 2014 4:43 pm

Everyone decided to go on the hilly option today, so 14 of us tackled the route from Bollington, through Pott Shrigley, Kettleshulme, Whaley Bridge and Chapel up to No Car cafe. John and Martin navigated us, and we were fortunate enough to have a gusty tail wind helping us up the hills on the way there. We paid the price on the way back, with a gusty head wind and some rain. A fellow cyclist came past and asked if we were a sportif. When we explained that we were from the Macclesfield Wheelers and on a club run, he asked if we were the ladies section, that caused some laughter, given the number of men with us. To be fair, they were mostly in the second group behind us. We rode about 27 miles, with more than 1000m of climbing, somewhat defeating the easy ride description, and a real achievement for those of us who do not really 'do' hills.Image

There is no easy way to the No Car Cafe so chapeau to everyone who completed the ride today. I found a ride to Jodrell Bank more than enough in that wind. :(
