It’s been a busy weekend of racing for the Holden family! As well as Jo’s great result at Monsall, Simon and I rode the Warrington Road Club’s 25m 2-up TTT on Saturday. It was our first 2-up TTT (as a team, and individually), and it went well considering the tough conditions. We had lots of rain, the roads were pretty treacherous, and we suffered a few slow-downs due to traffic at roundabouts, but all things considered, we were pleased with the outcome.

We did 58:00, giving us 9th place out of 47 teams. Only 15 teams got under the hour on the day.

Gethin Butler (British Best All-Rounder in 1994 and 1995, and current holder of the Land’s End to John o’ Groats record) was riding with Nigel Clementson, and finished 5th in 56:56.

The traffic lights in the dip at Jodrell Bank caused a last-minute course change from the regular Cheshire J2/9 course ( ... tails/j2-9) to the J4/8 ( ... tails/j4-8) which involved two laps of the triangular route. Of the two, I think the J2/9 is the better course, having quicker turns.

TTTs are great fun and it would be good to get a few more people doing them next year. Looking back through the forum posts on the website the club has been very active in this race format over the years and I’d like to re-energise interest in TTTs next season. If you’re interested please let me know.
