Calling all Wheelers! Help is needed for the Macclesfield Wheelers Evening Road Race on Tuesday 14th May from 6.30 to 8.30ish (race is at 7pm). I’m looking for volunteers for lead car drivers and marshals. If you are available please let me know asap so I can ensure we have enough support for the race to go ahead.
Contact me on email: antallan@fsmail.net or phone: 07855 855552
Please note: the HQ is Lower Withington Methodist Church Hall (not Siddington).
Cheers,
Anthony

Thanks to everyone who has offered to marshal/help at the road race on Tuesday 14th May. Anyone else who is available please feel free to turn up on the night, your help will be appreciated.

The HQ is at Lower Withington Methodist Church Hall (not Siddington village hall this time!) and will be open from 6pm. If you are marshalling please try to arrive for around 6.15pm to give yourself time to collect bibs and flags and get to your allocated post. Please sign the marshals signing on sheet at the HQ and leave a mobile phone number that you can be reached on. John Baguley will allocate marshalling positions when you sign on.

Also….

Any cake donations for the tea room would be greatly appreciated!

If you would be available to help Greg set out the course from around 5pm please let me know.

Many Thanks,
See you on Tuesday!
Anthony

Just a reminder that the race HQ is Lower Withington Methodist Church Hall.

If you have ridden this event before please note that this is not the usual HQ (previously it has been Siddington Hall) as talking to riders over the past couple of weeks it seems that not everyone has realised this!
See you Tuesday (at Lower Withington )
Cheers,
Anthony

Ant

Enormous thanks to you and the rest of the club for another great event. Particular thanks to the marshals who were stood out for a long time in some pretty atrocious weather. Thanks also to Mike for lending me his full fingered gloves. Doubt that I would have finished without them. That was a cold, wet and miserable ride. No idea what happened in our race - it passed in a torrent of grit from back wheels. Just glad to have stayed upright.

Just to confirm Dave's post. A big thank you to Ant for organisation and all marshall's etc who had to stand out on a miserable cold and wet evening.

Without you we could not enjoy ourselves splashing down the lanes.

Highlight of the night was the lead car going off course  on the first lap.

Full marks to all riders who stopped racing and slowed to let the lead car back on.

Special mention to Marcus for lift back to HQ having punctured at the start of Hulme Walfield Lane.

2 races in 3 days finished neither of them due to punctures :(

Thanks to everyone who helped on Tuesday night, in the HQ and out on the course in the rain. Everyone did a great job to make it a successful and safe event despite the weather!

Well done to all the riders for braving the conditions and staying upright on the wet roads!

Cheers,
Ant
