Tour of Britain 2012 - Tue 13 Sept

Stage 3 is the stage closest to Macc Tues 13 Sept
With riders due at Gun Hill at 12:36, Leek sprint 12:46 and the finish in Stoke-on-Trent at 13:39

After the A523 the route climbs onto the exposed Morridge Ridge that demarcates the edge of the Peak District National Park. With the moors dropping away to both sides, there are excellent views, but also a high chance that the exposure to the elements could play a part, with wind the most likely element to challenge the cyclists.
A quick descent, via the hairpin at Thorncliffe, leads to Meerbrook and Tittesworth Reservoir at the foot of Gun Hill. Famous for its inclusion in recent Tours of Britain, plus having once been the site of a classic one-day race, Gun Hill will be the first Category One Skoda King of the Mountains Climb of the 2011 Tour.
The climb is unlikely to put too many riders in trouble, but could be a good opportunity for attacks to take place and for a selection to occur.
A succession of easy turns make for a fast descent back onto the A523 and into Leek, for the day's final intermediate Yodel Sprint.

Nice to see Wheelers tops in the crowd at the top of Gun Hill. Unfortunately, I was at work :(

Quite exciting, lots of us up there.....I got a few photos too.....shame I had to go back to work after as some were off to the Roaches cafe. I watched it on ITV4 too and spotted Roger's orange jacket, you couldn't miss it! :-D
