THE NATIONAL 400 in 2016 by PEAK AUDAX
From The Peak through Staffordshire and Shropshire to North Wales ...and back.
Starts 7am Saturday 30th July from the Village Hall at Biggin nr Hartington in the Peak District. It's not a race, it's an Audax - all you have to do is finish in at most 27 hours.
Parking and overnight accommodation at the Village Hall on the Friday night before the event is available. No Charge.
If you want to enjoy a few more days in the Peak, or just avoid the snoring contest in the Hall, there's lots of camping and B&B's available locally. We've listed some good ones on our info' page.
Ideal route for people trying this distance, and/or night-riding, for the first time. A scenic and interesting, but not gratuitously hilly ride out to Llangollen, is followed by a night ride with easy navigation on well-surfaced and quiet 'A' roads. The ride finishes with an early morning return to the Peak from Alton (of the Towers) on the glorious Tissington Trail.
You'll be neither hungry nor sleep deprived with seven intermediate Controls all offering food and drink and three of them sleeping facilities also. Llangollen even has a shower we can use.
