Wed night training ride

Postby Mr.Malc » Tue Oct 04, 2016 8:33 pm

Wed night training ride. 19:00 from Broken cross car park.
Bullets in no particular order.
From 5th October 2016 .
approx. 30 miles . Pex hill - Twemlow - Byley - 7 Sisters - Warford - Artists Lane - Prestbury - Tytherington .

• The aim is to stick together as one group.
• If it splits up someone is showing off.
• Lights mandatory (make sure the rear one doesn’t discomfort your wheel suckers).
• Mudguards very much appreciated.
• Not a race!
• If you are the front at a junction make sure the last rider has cleared it before getting back up to speed.
• Shout up the road defects – and pass them on (don’t assume everyone can hear what the front says).
• If no one is joining you at the front you’re going too fast.
• Have a chat at the Wizard whilst you wait for me.

Wed week 2 : 17 riders (I think) departed broken cross , might have picked up one more going down the hill. Hedge cutting encountered, but only one popture endured. 14 post ride imbibers .

The Wednesday night chain had 5 out last night (3 Jan 18) (Simon, Matt L, Paul C, Jamie, Tom) so it was relentless through and off - especially hard into the headwind on the way out. Matt took us on a slightly different route which cut out a couple of miles. Typically the tailwind on the way back never lasted long... excuse for the lower than usual average speed 20.5mph to the bottom of Artists. Oh and it rained for the last leg. Welcome to 2018... good to be back!

Wednesday night Chain: Bit cold and foggy in places. Used the shortened route via Goostrey again. 8 of us out (3 x Matt, Olly, Steve, Ben, Paul, me) riding steady through and off all night. 20something mph to the bottom of Artists Lane (speed is outdated anyway... we were all working hard / on power target etc). All good... except 1 puncture and getting caught by the gritting lorry.

Tuesday is the new Wednesday

Postby Simon H » Sun Sep 30, 2018 9:21 pm

Following a bit of discussion there is a plan to move the Wednesday night ride to Tuesday, starting this week (2nd Oct) - 7:15pm from Broken Cross car park. Decent lights, mudguards please, brisk pace (tends to be 20-21ph av to bottom of Artists), stop for mechanicals and keep together.
