Wednesday Night Ride

From this weeks random Wednesday reporter.
One more M.Wheeler than last week. Present were R.D.F, Rmax, C.Y, Antl & Mr Duck. With guest appearances from Boisterous Mistral and Gusty Gate-Gap, the ride soon turned into a war of attrition with our plucky 5 gamely resisting the random attentions of the interlopers until the farthest reaches of Twemlow. At this point the visitors decided to aid progress and a successful return to base looked likely. That was, until the legs belonging to your truly began to rapidly empty. After heroically wimping out I can report that some miles were covered at an average speed and everyone returned home without getting rained on-probably.

Wednesday night training ride. Now that the unseasonably dry start to Autumn has broken, the honeymoon period for this ride is now over. Respectfully request that we see your mudguard clad steeds from now on please. :thumleft:

Wed 28th Oct- Quick stats .
Mild and breezy but dry. The dull, damp threatening afternoon sky must have put a few folks off. 6 set off 6 returned. All joined in the thru&offness all the way round. The conservative initial pace remained conservative. 6 pairs of M.Gs. present (flap stat not collated). No splattered faces.
I figure that this ride was almost 3 times better than my previous attendance a fortnight ago, when there were 15 riders. As I got to the front that many more times.

Fourteen riders congealed at the cross roundabout car park. As we headed down Pex attempting through and off ness (needs more practice) two more clotted to our cluster. Mr Leek’s first of two poptures interrupted the proceedings at yellow broom but smooth progress was soon resumed thru Byley, tover at the 3 greyhounds and down B5081. We returned via seven sisters , david lewis and mt von artist.
Lessons learned
: you need to shout up quickly and with gravitas when you puncture or no one will notice (sorry Colin).
: don’t PANIC and rush to the front when going thru, if you’re on the outside you’re already going quicker than the inside, so you only have to maintain the speed not add to it.
: don’t wear your winter jacket, just because it’s dark and November. 14deg is warm

If we're training it must be raining - not really.
Selfish we were. Four rode out, thirty something miles, which by my calculation is over eight each in the premier position. On leaving Mr Cottom’s broken biscuit, we also left the rain behind. So encouraged we proceeded to complete the full circuit via Byley. It was here we picked up a magnificent tail wind returning us homeward smug and dry.
