Weds night winter Training season

Postby dharbott » Thu Sep 26, 2013 8:27 am

First of the Weds night winter training season went out last night:
Nine riders, good discipline, average speed BrokenX to Beach Lane (Ship Inn) 19.9mph.
A good ride in dry, warm conditions.

I was the only one on a winter bike, which made it a bit tougher for me (that's my excuse anyway).

Mirroring Cris Cottom's Mon Night reports...

About 20 riders started at Broken Cross tonight (can't count, had gloves on). Cool, windy but dry. A mix of winter and summer bikes out, so a unlevel playing field. No mechanicals on the ride, but some of us nearly got wiped out by a car taking a narrow 90degree bend too fast on the wrong side of the road (Mottram). As usual, we split up in Prestbury, so I never knew if we all made it back. I don't know who was out, it was dark, and very fast, and my glasses were steamed up!

This ride is rarely a well disciplined training ride, so I'm renaming it the Weds Night Yo-Yo ride... It was a nice lively crowd in The Ship Inn, but the landlord needs to put the 2nd wood burner on as it's cold now! Beer on-form as usual.

Don't forget - WINTER bikes with full mudguards please - or stay on the back.

I wasn't at the front, or the back (much).
But I wasn't sat at home with my feet up either, like some: Roger.

I guess you needed to save your energy for helping me with the ' licking and stuffing' on Thursday night :-)

16/10/2013 - We sneaked this one in between the heavy rainstorms - a dry ride.
About 11 riders out, fairly smooth fast pace.
We were flying alone the A50 with a strong tailwind when Matt punctured.
Nigel got lost, or did he just want to miss his round in the pub? He turned up in the Ship Inn 30mins late anyway.

A few tired looking riders at the end.

Strava stats:

Distance 29.8miles
Elevation 1,043ft
Time 01:33:11
Calories out 1,201
Calories in (Bosley Cloud) 1,202

The weather forecast for Wednesday night this week is appalling, heavy rain and winds so I'll be giving that a miss.

I quite fancy a beer though, so does anyone want to meet at the Ship anyway? We can have a Mallorca chat.

Cheers
