70th Anniversary Club Runs to High Legh - Sun 12 Aug
Absolutely fantastic to see 47 riders, in five groups, on today's ride, starting from the site of Brough's Cycles, where the club's first ever club run set out on 15 August 1948. Big thanks to Shirley at High Legh Village Hall for baking us a delicious vegan birthday carrot cake, and all the other volunteers who were raising money for Riding for the Disabled.
Happy 70th Birthday Macclesfield Wheelers
In 1948 a meeting was called of all cycle enthusiasts in the town to ascertain if there was sufficient interest in forming a local cycling club. The inaugural meeting took place at the George Hotel, Jordangate, Macclesfield, on Tuesday July 20. After a show of hands the new club adopted the name Macclesfield Wheelers.
